If I had pictures . . .

I realize I don't blog without pictures - so it looks like nothing at all happened in January.

If I HAD pictures I would have blogged about my new 2010 goal of trying a couple of new recipes a week. I was off to an ambitious start in Jan. and tried 12 new recipes:

Lemon chicken, Field Green salad with Goat Cheese, Basil Tomato Soup, Cheddar Cheese Scones,
Carmelized Carrot Risotto, Autumn Butternut Squash, Arugula Salad with Blackberry Vinaigrette, Mixed Salad with Strawberries and Avocados, new & improved Lemon Bars, Weight Watchers Crositini, Lemon Rosemary Chicken, and World Peace Cookies.

Of course my favorite - BY FAR - were the World Peace Cookies - figures. This is why:
a recipe a french chef named Pierre Herme created for a Champs Elysee restaurant. They were called World Peace because they are so good that a daily dose of these is all that is needed to ensure global peace and happiness. Very dark and rich and buttery and decadent- (let's not discuss calories). Too bad I don't actually crave the salads.

If I had pictures I could tell you all about celebrating my birthday for about 2 weeks with visits from girlfriends, lunches, and a date night in the City. One of my other 2010 goals is to try a new restaurant every month - preferably in a place I've never been to before. For January we went to French restaurant in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco. It was called CHAPEAU. It was very small, delicious, and the prices were very reasonable - especially for a French restaurant. It was a great evening.

Just realized my 2 big resolutions revolve around food - well I have also committed to running 3 miles on the treadmill daily (except weekends). I have been watching the first season of "Lie to Me". I like the show - but I LOVE the wardrobe of the lead character (Kelli Williams aka- Foster). Classy, sophisticated, professional, beautiful. I'd love a wardrobe like that :)

I also started reorganizing and purging thru the closets, drawers, etc in the house. I started out full charge and was obssessedly cleaning for the first few weeks of the month - but I have definitely lost steam on that one. It has lost its excitement - but I did get a lot done initially.

Just realized why I don't blog without pictures - too boring. If you are a good writer you can pull it off - I am not - so I will quit while I am ahead.

mom, I liked reading your blog, even without pictures. plus, just THINK of how many pictures you will have to blog in a few weeks after the whole family is in town and tanner comes home. WAY too many!

Those recipes sound yummy. Maybe you could post them (at least those cookies). Good luck on that running three miles everyday. I go in spurts, mostly I love to be out running/walking (I don't usually run uphill) in the spring, summer and fall, but get painfully bored on the treadmill in the winter. And, happy belated birthday, I have a card for you and will actually get it mailed today. At least that is my goal, mail yours and Barbaras birthday cards. I am embarrassed about how late yours is and could die over how late Barbs is.

good post mom. I didn't know you were running 3 miles a day, way to go! I wish I was - all the girls should run together when we're there this month. We could make tiffany carry all the babies or something to slow her down. And Tiff is right, you should make those cookies for us : )

Hey Faye - I got an email from Nicki last night and she is in her ward R. S. Presidency. Last Sunday was their ward conference and so she had meetings with the Stake R. S. Presidency. Teri Reno is in her stake R.S. Presidency. I hardly remember Teri at all and I don't think she knows who I am, but I remember that you knew her. Wasn't she in the Concord 1st ward or something like that? Anyway, small world and I'm so glad Nicki ran into her. It feels like she ran into an old friend, even though I barely knew Teri. Just wanted to pass this info on.
